Kindred enters Washington State with Swinomish Tribe

Kindred Group has expanded into the Washington State market by launching the first phase of its partnership with the Swinomish Tribe.

Under the agreement, Kindred will roll out a retail operation at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge, in line with a wider, six-year deal announced in October last year.

The first phase of the sportsbook launch covers Unibet branded kiosks and over-the-counter sports betting, with further developments to include a Unibet sports betting lounge, due to launch later this year.

Record igaming revenue drives growth in Michigan in March

Gross online gambling revenue from commercial and tribal operators in Michigan jumped 33.4% year-on-year in March, helped by record monthly igaming revenue.

Gross receipts for the month from igaming and online sports betting reached $216.4m, up from $162.2m in March 2022 and $170.8m in February of this year.

Of this total, $171.8m came from online casino, a new record for the state surpassing the previous monthly high of $153.7m that was set in January 2023.

FDJ revenue ticks up across the board in Q1

French national lottery operator Française des Jeux (FDJ) reported revenue of €662m (£583.9m/$726.5m) for the first quarter of 2023, ended 31 March.

This was up by 8% compared to FDJ‘s performance in Q1 2021.

On a pro forma basis for 2022 – which included revenue from FDJ’s point of sales segment Aleda and payment service L’Addition – the revenue was up by 5.3% comparably.

Lottery revenue for the quarter was 6.4% higher than in Q1 2022, at €497m, while sports betting revenue grew slightly by 0.2%, remaining fairly level at €129m.

A total of €5.49bn was wagered with the operator during the quarter, a rise of 8.6%. Digital stakes made up €698m of the total.

From points of sale, revenue hit €4.79bn, a rise of 6.9%.

Beter has agreed an exclusive media partnership for the Cavinder twins to join the business as content creators, creative directors and equity partners.

The Cavinder twins, Hanna and Haley, are former NCAA basketball players who have built a large social media following. In an exclusive deal, they will bring their Twin Talk podcast, which originally launched on iHeartRadio, to Betr Media.

Betr said that this partnership will expand on-camera content and female-focused sports content for the company.

MA online sports betting handle hits $548.1m in first three weeks

Players wagered a total of $548.1m during the opening three weeks of legal online sports betting in Massachusetts, while licensed operators generated $46.7m in revenue.

The US state opened its regulated market on 10 March, with the inaugural online wagering report published this week by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) covering the three-week period from this date, through to 31 March.

DraftKings proved the most popular operator among consumers, drawing $257.6m in bets in the opening weeks, ahead of FanDuel on $181.1m and BetMGM with $45.3m.

Pennsylvania gambling revenue exceeds $500m for the first time in March

Pennsylvania set a new record in March after monthly gambling revenue surpassed $500.0m for the first time, while igaming revenue also reached an all-time high.

Revenue for the month reached $515.3m, up 11.4% from $462.7m in March 2022 and also 12.8% ahead of $456.8m in February of this year.

Retail slots accounted for almost half of all gambling revenue for March, with the $225.4m generated during the month being 5.0% ahead of the previous year. However, revenue from retail table games slipped 8.9% to $85.9m.

Kindred approved to launch proprietary platform in New Jersey

Kindred Group has secured final approval from the New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement to launch its proprietary gaming platform in the US state.

The roll-out, Kindred said, would improve flexibility and performance through a richer set of analytics and data, as well as give Unibet customers in New Jersey an enhanced experience where products and content can be better tailored.

Penn launches military scholarship at Penn State Berks

US-based gaming operator Penn Entertainment announced it is creating a military scholarship at the commonwealth campus of Penn State University, Penn States Berks.

The scholarship will be endowed through a multi-year $50,000 spend, which the company frames as supporting the Berks County community where Penn’s corporate headquarters are located. The business said that the initiative was part of Penn’s ongoing commitment to support veterans and active-duty military.

The scholarship will be available to veterans, activity duty reservists or National Guard members with a “demonstrated financial need”. At present, close to 50 student veterans are enrolled at the campus.

Bet365 to debut ultra-low latency streaming service

Bet365 is set to launch iGameMedia and THEO Technologies’ optimised sports streaming service next month.

Sports broadcaster iGameMedia and THEO – which has developed High Efficiency Streaming Protocol (HESP) – will deliver ultra-low latency sports streaming to the sportsbook market as standard, phasing out HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). The two have combined with rights agency partner Infront Bettor and will deliver the service through the iGame One Platform from May 2023.

The platform is a single API that is integrated with all leading sports rights holders which maps multiple vendor event IDs into one singular ID in One integration. The service will be delivered with a fixed latency of two seconds from source – compared to the 7-8 seconds that is standard from HLS – aligning the data and the video for an enhanced user experience.

Tonybet seals multi-year Canadian Premier League partnership

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) has announced that Tonybet will be its official sports betting and online casino partner.

The multi-year partnership makes Tonybet the presenting partner of CPL’s Match of the Week broadcast on OneSoccer.

Mark Noonan, the commissioner of the CPL, expressed his excitement at signing up Tonybet as a sponsor.

In an unsurprising move, the English Premier League has collectively agreed to remove gambling sponsorship from the front of clubs’ match day shirts.
